Which Ones Work for You?
We all see or hear commercial ads everyday of our lives, but which ones actually entice you to go out and buy that product? Which ones make you laugh but don’t make you want to go purchase the item? Which ones are cute but still don’t make you want to spend money on buying them? Which ones make you angry enough to contact the company and complain about? Which ones are irritating enough that you actually have to shut down the volume? Which ones make you sad and make you want to spend you money on?
I’ve decided to add this tab to my website to add a little humor, a little information for companies that don’t realize what they are doing or not doing right and just for the heck of it.
I hope you’ll join me in discussing the commercials that you see; which ones you like and which ones you don’t.
I really enjoy the Geico commercials. Those advertisers do amazing things with that little guy. However, I don’t feel the need to go buy their insurance. I’d hate to lose the little guy, just as I did the Taco Bell Chihuahua; but in my opinion they are so cute and adorable you are too busy being amazed at how the advertisers ‘make’ the little guy to listen to the actual sales pitch.
Dairy Queen comes the closest to making me want to get in my car and go buy their food or ice cream. Maybe that’s because I love food. But McDonald’s ads don’t do the same for me as Dairy Queen does, I’m not sure why.
Christie Clinic’s commercial with that annoying music they play and some kid playing a fake guitar in the background just drives me crazy. I have to turn the station or sound down every time I see it.
Hallmark Greeting Card commercials tend to choke me up with some of their short stories of home town folks receiving one of their cards; but they don’t make me want to buy ‘just’ their cards.
Commercials I see that outright lie about a person or plan make me want to contact the writer or creator and complain. These are usually campaign or political ads, as if you couldn’t have guessed.
These are the ones that come to mind at the moment – which ones do you like or dislike?
I especially appreciate commercials that provide URL and EMAIL addresses to their websites and companies.
Sonic’s commercials with people in cars eating. Unless you have very good hearing and pay attention, you have no idea what those people are selling.
I’ve found that if I turn of the sound of my television and watch a commercial — that tells me best which ones actually attract my attention and make me want to buy.
By the way, those Geico ads with cave men — make no sense what so ever…maybe I’m a cave person? I think they stink and are stupid.
