You are 100% correct. Unless they fight just as hard as they did in 2008, they could very well lose ---but I think the current situations (economy, jobs, health care, energy, etc..) will have a big factor in who wins in Nov.

I think you're spot on with this assessment. The main problem, as I see it, is that the Democratic Party could too easily become complacent and not work hard enough to re-energize the young voters and minorities who turned out for Obama in '08. We saw an indication of that in the numbers from the two recent gubernatorial elections. So I think it's imperative that progressives not relax, but continue to fight the good fight.

OTOH, the Republican Party needs to reclaim its center and not allow the Palins, Becks, Limbaughs, Bachmanns and Boehners attempt to direct the direction of the party. Otherwise - to borrow from your analogy - they are collectively turning their backs on the "drawback," and will be unaware of the height of the wave until it actually hits!

Speaking of security. An airliner is out of contact for over an hour and 100 miles off course. Why were no fighters scrambled ? Did the air traffic controlers not call Homeland Security ? Did Homeland security not think it a threat because we're the mid-west not NYC or DC ? Where is the media what's the bigger story airline pilots asleep at the wheel or Homeland Security doing nothing to protect us ?

Yes they do fatherbob. I am seeing all sorts of commercials selling health insurance these days, offering big deals.

They want to lock in the customers now.

the insurance industry sees the writing on the wall. they can't weather another 5 years of status quo. they're busily trying to cram as much cash into the pockets of stockholders and executives before their boat sinks.

employers and employees can't afford any more increases in premiums charged, something all of the carriers have already admitted was coming......the industry knows their days are numbered.

Sonic's commercials with people in cars eating. Unless you have very good hearing and pay attention, you have no idea what those people are selling.

I've found that if I turn of the sound of my television and watch a commercial -- that tells me best which ones actually attract my attention and make me want to buy.
